About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Test Engineer with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software testing to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our software solutions through effective test planning, test execution, defect management, and automation. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical curiosity, and the ability to work closely with developers, business analysts, product managers, and delivery teams in an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications to identify test scenarios and potential quality risks.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve regression coverage and testing efficiency.
- Perform API, database, and backend validation where applicable, ensuring data accuracy and end-to-end system behaviour.
- Identify, document, track, and verify defects with clear reproduction steps, expected results, actual results, screenshots, logs, and severity assessments.
- Prepare test reports, quality metrics, test summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with internal and client teams to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues and support timely delivery.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and automation frameworks.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance, testing, or test engineering.
- Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, defect life cycle, and software development life cycle.
- Hands-on experience in manual testing for web-based, backend, API, or enterprise software applications.
- Experience with test automation using frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar technologies, complemented by hands-on experience in API testing utilizing HTTP request files, Postman, or similar tools.
- Programming or scripting experience in at least one language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or similar.
- Experience using Azure DevOps for work item tracking, test planning, defect management, and collaboration with development and delivery teams.
- Basic knowledge of cloud-native technologies, containers, or DevOps practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, GitHub) is advantageous.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related STEM discipline
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage testing priorities, and communicate quality risks clearly to stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus.
